Alive to God
(Romans 6:1-14)
The secret of life is not in the physical body of man, but hidden deep in his spirit!
I. The degree to which you choose to deal with sin in your life will determine the degree of victory you live in “spiritual life.
A. Sin is a power that will rule you if you do not rule over it (Genesis 4:6-7).
So the Lord said to Cain Why are you angry? If you do well will you not be accepted? And if you do not well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it.
B. Because of the death of Jesus Christ we have become dead to sin vs. 2.
Therefore we also since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us and run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith… (Hebrews 12:1-2).
C. We live in a constant critical choice option: yes to God no to sin or Yes to sin no to God. No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon (Matthew 6:24).
II. There are three issues involved in establishing dominion over sin.
A. Knowing your are dead to sin vs. 6.
B. Reckoning that you are dead to sin vs. 11.
C. Putting these two truths into practice daily at the same time vs. 13.
III. There are three issues involved in being “alive to God” (Romans 12:1-2).
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
A. Give your body to God.
1. As a living sacrifice
2. Holy and acceptable to God
B. You must have you mind renewed.
C. You must prove what the will of God is and do it as a way of life.
