Reclaiming America Through Prayer (2 Chronicles 7:14)
I. Why should we pray?
A. Because God does nothing except through the prayers and petitions of His children.
Call unto me and I will answer thee …(Jeremiah 33:3; Luke 18:7-8).
B. Prayer allows you to search for and find God (Jeremiah 29:11-12).
C. Prayer moves mountains and makes possible the impossible (Matthew 17:20).
And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
II. When should we pray?
A. When we are in trouble Psalms 46:2; Psalms 107:6,13,19 and 28)..
B. When we are not in trouble Psalms 55:17,; 1 Thessalonians 5:19; and Luke 18:1).
III. Where should we pray?
A. Privately. But thou when thou prayest enter into thy closet and when thou hast shut the door pray to thy Father which is in secret and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly (Matthew 6:6).
B. Publicly.
I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting (1 Timothy 2:8).
IV. How should we pray? Effectively. Fervently. Righteously (James 5:16 & John 15:7).
V. What is it that weakens our prayers? Seven stumbling blocks to powerful prayer.
A. Unforgiveness (Mark 11:25).
B. An offended brother or sister (Matthew 5:23-24).
C. Unconfessed sin (1 John 1:9).
D. Marital disharmony (1 Peter 3:7).
E. Doubt and unbelief (Hebrews 11:6; James 1:6-7).
F. Turning away from God’s Word (Proverbs 28:9).
G. Wrong motives (James 4:3).
