Saving America - Tearing Down Idols
Saving America:
Tearing Down Idols
This know also, that in the last
days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves,
covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful,
unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent,
fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of
pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the
power thereof: from such turn away (2 Timothy
3:1-5).
I. What you
should know about idols.
A. Two of
the 10 commandments relate directly with this grievous sin (Exodus
20:3-6).
B. An idol
is anything, person, place or practice that you put before God (Matthew
6:33).
C. Behind
every idol is the power and force of a demon (1 Corinthians
10:19-21).
D.
Believers who make or serve idols will inherit a plague (Exodus
32:35).k
A.
Self.
Let nothing be done through strife

2:2-3).
B. Mammon
(Matthew 6:24).
No man can serve two masters: for
either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the
one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and
mammon.
C. Pleasure
(Hebrews 11:24-26).
By faith Moses, when he was come to
years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter; Choosing rather to
suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for
a season; Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in
Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the
reward.
D.
Covetousness (Colossians 3:5).
Mortify therefore your members
which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil
concupiscence, and covetousness, which is
idolatry:
III.
When you have built an alter to God and torn down all of your idols the
fire of God will fall on your personal sacrifice and the Holy Spirit will fill
your life (2 Chr.7:1;1 Cor.
6:19).
Now when Solomon had
made an end of praying, the fire came down from heaven, and consumed the burnt
offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of the Lord filled the
house.
What, know ye not that your body is
the temple of the Holy Ghost who is in you and you are not your own you are
bought with a price there glorify God in your
