Making Room for Christ at Christmas
(Luke 2:1-7)
I. God’s Divine Providence Overshadows all of the decisions and affairs of men
(v.1-5).
The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will
(Proverbs 21:1).
A. We would do well to pay attention to and pray for our personal authorities.
I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior
(1 Timothy 2:1-3).
B. We would do well to become active where we see God being active.
Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things so ever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise. For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things that himself doeth: and he will shew him greater works than these, that ye may marvel
(John 5:19-20).
II. God’s Divine Providence leads often down the strait, narrow and rocky paths.
The right way is seldom the easy way and the strait gate is not really so straight.
Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leads unto life, & few there be that find it (Matthew 7:13-14).
III. We must make room for Christ because the world will never have room for Him.
A. The world is Satan’s domain (2 Corinthians 4:3-4; Luke 4:5-6).
God or the devil will fill whatever space you make for them (Ephesians 4:27).
B. How do you create room or space for God to occupy?
1. You must make room for Him in your spirit (John 4:23-24).
2. You must make room for Him in your thoughts (Proverbs 23:7).
3. You must make room for Him in your speech (John 3:14-16).
4. You must make room for Him in your schedule (Hebrews 10:24).
5. You can give God the room He deserves by giving Him the place He deserves
(Mt. 6:33)
