Let the Rain Fall
(Isaiah 55:10-13)
I. There are two concepts concerning God’s Word you should know.
A. Logos. It is all that God has said or ever will say which embodies His purpose.
B. Rhema. The word that God is speaking now for this particular time & purpose.
Definition: A word spoken by a living voice.
So shall by Word be that goeth forth out of my mouth… vs. 11.
Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeded out of them out of the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4).
II. There are two gifts that come from the Word: Bread and Seed.
A. Bread. The word ministers the Holy Spirit and the life of Jesus to the believer.
I am the bread of life he that cometh to me shall never hunger, and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.
(John 6:35).
B. Seed. The word of God in the heart is a seed that can produce a great harvest.
He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him
(Psalms 126:6).
But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty
(Matthew 13:23).
III. The Word is also like the rain that falls. Don’t run from the rain, run to it!
Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the LORD: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth
(Hosea 6:3)
.
A. Open your heart
And they waited for me as for the rain; they opened their mouth wide as for the latter rain
(Job 29:23).
B. Open your ears. Listen aggressively, with comprehension and understanding.
C. Obey what you hear
(James 1:22; John 13:17)
D. Believe. Mix the word with faith
(Hebrews 4:2).
E. When you are being transformed by God’s word your emotional life will change, your relationships will change, your circumstances will change.
You will be changed.
