It is Time to Seek the Lord
(Matthew 6:24-34)
Bro. James Strait 7/10/2011
I. Learn to live responsibly without worry, anxiety and resentment. Without stress.
A. Learn from life: Behold the fowls.... consider the lilies... the grass of the field.
B. Learn from the Bible: God's Word.
Be anxious for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God (Philippians 4:6).
C. Live by the Bible (Proverbs 3:5-6; Psalms 32:8)
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go:
I will guide thee with mine eye.
II. How do you seek the kingdom?
A. By seeking the will of the king (Matthew 6:10; 2Peter 3:9; Matthew 12:50).
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance (2Peter 3:9).
B. By seeking the face of the king
( 2 Chronicles 7:14; Psalms 27:8; 105:4; Hosea 5:15)
I will go and return to my place, till they acknowledge their offence, and seek my face: in their affliction they will seek me early (Hosea 5:15).
III. How do you find and maintain the righteousness of God.
A. By faith in Christ in His blood not our works (Philippians 3:9; Ephesians 2:8-9).
And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:
B. By walking in the light (1 John 1:6-7)
C. By confessing and forsaking our sin (1John 1:8-9; Proverbs 28:13)
He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.
