The First Taste of Heaven: the Judgment Seat of Christ
(2 Cor. 5:1-11)
I. The correct way of thinking about the rest of your life (vs. 1-8).
A. The best of your life is all in front of you. “But you have saved the best for last!”
B. Groaning is a part of living and gets us ready for glory (vs. 2)!
C. Our body is going to be an integral part of our experience in heaven (vs. 3).
We are mortals who will only be fully satisfied with immortality (vs. 4).
Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality
(1 Cor. 15:51-53).
II. The correct way of living the rest of your life.
A. Living by the Spirit (vs. 5).
B. Walking by faith (vs. 7).
C. Looking forward to being with Christ (vs. 8).
III. The correct planning for the rest of your life. Preparing to meet Christ.
A. How we have used our talent, abilities and spiritual gifts.
Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents. For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath
(Matthew 25:28-29).
B. How we have used our time.
My times are in thy hand: deliver me from the hand of mine enemies, and from them that persecute me
(Psalms 31:15).
C. How we have used our treasure
For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more
(Luke 12:48).
D. How we have responded to the truth
(John 8:31-32).
E. How we have managed our relationships
(Matthew 25:40).
