The Resurrection of Jesus Christ and You (Luke 24:1-6; Colossians 3:1)
I. The most documented supernatural event of human history is the
resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how
that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he
was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the
scriptures: And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After
that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the
greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep.
After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last
of all he was seen of me also
(1 Corinthians 15:3-8).
II. The most celebrated event of human history is the resurrection of
Jesus Christ.
And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the
throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten
thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands; Saying with a
loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and
riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.
And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the
earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I
saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that
sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever
(Revelation 5:11-13).
III. The most needful event of human history was the resurrection
of Jesus Christ.
A. It solves our greatest problem.
For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23).
B. It restores our greatest potential.
And God said, let us make man in our image after our likeness and let
them have dominion=C2=85.and over all the earth (Genesis 1:26 ).
Beloved now are we the sons of God, and it does not yet appear what we
shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like
him, for we shall see him as he is (1John 3:1).
C. It secures our eternal destiny (Romans 4:25) .
Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justificat
ion
I am the resurrection and the life he that believes in me, though he
were dead yet shall he live and whosoever lives and believes in me
shall never die. Believest thou this (John 11:25-26)?
