(Luke 2:21)
I. The Joseph, Mary and Jesus connection
(Luke 2:21-24)
A. They did everything according to God’s rule book
(vs. 21, 22, 23, 24, 39, and 41).
This book of the law shall not
depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that
thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then
thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success
(Joshua 1:8).
B. They made a presentation to the Lord
(vs. 22, and Romans 12:1-2.).
C. They gave a sacrifice to God according to the scripture
(Mal. 3:10, 2 Cor. 8:1-24; 9:6-10).
II. The Simeon connection
(Luke 2:25-35).
A. He had developed a mature, spiritual character and personality
(vs. 25).
1. He was just and devout
(Micah 6:8).
He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good;
and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?
2. He was waiting for the consolation of Israel.
So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation
(Hebrews 9:28).
3. He was filled with the Holy Ghost and led by the Spirit
(vs 25 and 27).
B. He blessed God
(vs. 28 and Psalms 103:1-4).
C. He blessed others
(vs. 34-35).
Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ
(Galatians 6:2).
III. The Anna connection
(Luke 2:36-38).
A. She was a hundred year old plus prayer warrior
(vs. 37; Luke 18:1-8).
And he spake a parable to them unto
this end that men ought always to pray and not to
faint.
B. She spoke about Christ to everyone and anyone who looked for redemption
(vs. 38).
How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher
(Rom.10:14)?
